IN THIS LESSON

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a nice alternative to CBT that can equip you with the tools to accept and work through difficult thoughts and feelings.

Sometimes unhelpful stories can “hook” us and take us on board a train of thoughts and feelings that feels out of our control. ACT offers tools to “unhook” from these thoughts by hopping off the train and anchoring yourself in the present moment.

Instead of challenging the thoughts (like we do in CBT), we accept the thoughts and develop the skills to work through them. ACT can be particularly helpful when you feel like challenging the evidence of a thought has not worked for you in the past.
